Guided Hope’s History and Founders

As a newly married couple in 2000, Guy and Kaarin shared their dreams with one another!  God had been working on their hearts independently, preparing them for an opportunity to serve together.   Kaarin had been training to be a Therapeutic Riding Instructor.  She had come “off the road” of meeting and events’ travel and sought an opportunity to help others through animals and ranch activities, while utilizing her event planning and farming experiences.  Guy had hoped for a place to help people through loss of a loved one.  Blessed by the incredible support he and Katelyn had received after the loss of his first wife to breast cancer, he had many ideas on how to provide the same hope, encouragement and resources for others.  His compassion, along with his building and engineering skills, would soon come together for a new purpose.

Fast forward to 2008.  They had four ranch-hands eager to get started!  Friends and family proposed they inquire about “Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch” and their annual Information Clinics on “How to Start Your Own Non-profit.”   After an inspiring week in Oregon, having been ministered to, educated, and encouraged, they felt they had their needed tools to move forward.

On May 1st, 2012, their dream became a reality with the official incorporation of Guided Hope.   Their families’ shared love of hospitality and service had always been lived out in their home, but this was an opportunity to care for others in a new way through country living with God’s amazing creatures.  Years of prayer, planning, and support blossomed with the launch of Guided Hope for the public on June 7th, 2014.  Soon after, they were blessed with their official non-profit 501C3 confirmation on July 4th!

They reached out to those who had been through loss.  Additionally, Guy and Kaarin’s marriage provided a special opportunity for Kaarin to adopt Katelyn.  In turn, they had a natural love for others blessed by adoption.  New callings emerged.  Their fathers had served in the military and they knew they wanted to serve families who serve our country.  (Presently, we honor Kaarin’s brother, who is serving in the Marines.)  The need for a place in our community for families going through medical hardships became evident, and they have enjoyed many tears, laughs, and stories of hope alongside those walking this challenging journey.   Sometimes a local family simply desires to work and serve together.  They are most welcome.

Guided Hope strives to mentor individuals, strengthen families, share Hope and inspire service through a day of chores, riding, learning, and play on the ranch together.

Guy and Kaarin, together with Katelyn, Tucker, Kira, Jessika, and all those that have offered their love, prayers, and support, invite you to come, enjoy and serve alongside them at Guided Hope!
