Managing a ranch is joyous and demanding work, and we can use your help. Volunteers make it possible for us to be a source of hope for our families. Please consider one or more of the following volunteer roles.
Wrangler
Our “Wranglers” are essential for our guest experiences on the ranch! We are in need of men and women who are interested in coming alongside our guests as they work, learn, play, and serve. These are wonderful one-on-one opportunities to serve our guests, beginning with the initial orientation, continuing on to chores/service projects, highlighted by opportunities with our horses, and culminating in our end-of-day team building games. Previous horse experience is helpful, but not required. We do provide training.
If you have a desire to serve Christ by encouraging others, then perhaps He has called you to be a Wrangler at Guided Hope! We ask that you take a moment to read our “Statement of Faith,” found under the “About Us” section of our website and consider if you are being called to serve with us. The process involves the following:
- Complete and submit the volunteer application, specifying that you are applying for a Wrangler position.
- Complete a personal interview. Our Program Assistant will contact you to discuss how your interests/skills match a need here at the ranch and schedule Wrangler Volunteer Leadership Training sessions.
- Commit to being a Wrangler for at least six Roundups this year.
- Pass the background check (at no cost to you).
- Sign a liability release form upon arrival at the ranch.
- Attend a Guided Hope Wrangler Leadership Training. (Please let us know if you are in need of a specific date/time to complete training.)
Wrangler Leadership Training: This unique program is for teens and adults who desire to learn, serve, and have fun in the country! This is designed for those who desire to learn leadership and safety skills to apply for our Wrangler team and work with our Roundup guests. We will spend time doing chores, learning about the animals, grooming horses, learning basic horsemanship skills, and share in a Bible devotional time together. For our teen Wranglers, Parents are asked to attend with their teen for at least the first hour, but may remain throughout the training! Click here to apply on-line and you will be contacted by our Program Assistant. Please click here for more information.
Ranch Hand
We rely on our “Ranch Hands” to help with our daily tasks, as well as miscellaneous jobs that arise. If you have a specific skill or gift that you would like to offer, be sure to indicate that on your application. For a list of the different skills you may fit as a Ranch Hand, click here. Children 7 and up may serve as Ranch Hands alongside their parent, depending on project needs.
Monday Men: We are looking for men (adults and teens 16 years and up) who have a heart to share their skills on the ranch and help with needed shop projects, mechanical repairs, and general facilities management.
Saturday Servers: Men and women (adults and teens 16 years and up) are needed for an array of ranch projects, i.e. landscaping, conditioning tack, painting, and general clean-up to create a safe and welcoming ranch for our guests.
We love having families volunteer together, and much of our daily chore list is completed by groups of individual adults, parents and kids working side by side. Although we are open to all ages for family volunteers, please keep in mind that we do not offer childcare. It is the volunteer’s responsibility to watch his or her children at all times while on the ranch. Children 13 years and older may volunteer independently with prior approval from their parent/guardian and Guided Hope.
- Complete and submit the Volunteer application, specifying that you are applying for a Ranch Hand position.
- The Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to coordinate schedules.
- Sign a liability release form upon arrival at the ranch.
Group Volunteer Opportunities
If your group is interested in volunteering at Guided Hope, apply by filling out the Volunteer application. Be sure to include group dynamics (number of people, approximate age group, etc.) and any specific skills or talents your group wishes to utilize or share. Whatever the nature of your group, we hope to find a good fit for you that will also meet a need at the ranch! Our projects typically accommodate groups of 2 – 25 people.
- Complete and submit the Volunteer application, specifying that you are applying as a Group Volunteer Leader.
- Each participant must complete a current liability release form upon arrival at the ranch. (Any participants under 18 years of age, must have their own parent/guardian sign a release prior to arrival.)
