Our Founders

KAARIN AND GUY SCOMA

Our Story

At Guided Hope, our story is one of faith, service, and community. In 2000, Guy and Kaarin, newly married, began dreaming of a place where they could serve others together. Kaarin’s background in therapeutic riding and event planning, combined with Guy’s technical and creative engineering skills, led them to envision a unique opportunity to help people through life's challenges.

In 2008, after being inspired and equipped by Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch’s training, and the willingness of their four children to be their first ranch hands, they moved forward with their dream. On May 1st, 2012, they officially founded Guided Hope, blending their passion for hospitality, country living, and God’s creatures to create a space for healing, hope, and support. Guy’s personal experiences as a young widower led to Kaarin’s adoption of their daughter, Katelyn, when they married. Their strong connections to military service, and experiences with those facing medical hardships also shaped their mission.

Guests who are touched by grief, military service, foster care, adoption, medical hardships, as well as anyone who wants to reconnect, grow, laugh, learn, and serve all benefit from our Guided Hope Roundup experience! Children, teens, adults, and families of all ages are welcome, free of charge. Through our programs, we offer a chance to slow down, connect with nature, and find healing alongside God’s creation. In June 2014, we became an official 501c3 nonprofit, and we celebrated our 10th anniversary in 2024.

We invite you to join us at Guided Hope to experience the joy of serving, learning, and growing together in faith.

What We Believe

Guided Hope is a faith-based organization. Though the ranch is not associated with any particular denomination, the basis of our belief rises from Judeo-Christian values.

It is our greatest desire to serve God by the demonstration of our faith through action. The founders and board of directors believe in a Sovereign God and the saving grace of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Faith on the ranch is demonstrated through “living example” to those we work with. It is our highest honor to serve children and families of all backgrounds with the same loving grace that has so freely been given to us.
